ESSENCE FESTIVAL 2013
During the French quarter coverage of the Essence Festival weekend we were present for Jill Scott, Beyonce’, Maxwell, Janell Mone’, Brandi, LL Cool J, and many more. This chemical reaction of talented musicians is known as Essence Festival. For those of you that don’t know, the port city of New Orleans becomes an entertainment MECCA during the 4th of July weekend which has been an iconic music event since its conception in 1995. These days the streets become flooded with what can only be explained as the current face of black culture at its finest, and Kapture NOLA was right there in the thick of it. The flock of the fabulous and fashion forward attendees splattered the town in waves of, “which way???… this way???” travelers during this fan fair extravaganza.

The timeless women of the Miss New Orleans pageant illuminated a spacious spectacle Saturday evening inside the historic Landmark hotel in Metairie. We witnessed a maze of amazing young ladies compete for the crown. The crochet of categories included little Miss, Miss Teen, Miss, and Ms. New Orleans of which all included astounding stage presence and glee.The night commenced with our cute and courageous young women of the crescent city and streamlined down white, blue, and green evening gowns flowing in a sea of chiffon, satin, and sequence. We witnessed an array of beauty through diverse competition. Friends and family flashed their love with cheers and cherished hope leading to overwhelming conclusions, some touched by tiaras,all followed by cries and surprise. Miss Nola duly noticed in her crowning achievement adorned in stardust and victory. All of our ladies were victorious in a dolls dominion of elegance, grace, and heart.It was hard work and quirk some spunk and high heeled pump that wheeled us down an elegant roller coaster of New Orleans fashion and style. A night to remember where all were overdue and none were overdone.
